With engineering you can make your own guns to pull with. Also some of the items you can make are pretty nifty for warriors.

What would you choose, and why?

Do both and get your metal from somewhere else.

Engineering will benefit you constantly - bombs, tools of various sorts.

Gnomish cloak, mortar, recombobulator, net, parachute cloak, etc.

In my opinion there's no need to make powerful guns to pull. If you're making a gun to pull, then you're not looking to really damage the enemy, just to pull him, obviously. To do that you only need a crappy gun. Regardless of your gun you're not going to inflict a lot of damage pulling.

As a warrior or a rogue for a gun I want as much frontloaded damage as I can find. DPS doesn't matter to me as much as the one hit I get to do while the mage/druid etc. is running away.

With a rogue and a frontloaded damage gun I can do 300-ish crits to same level players. I think that's pretty significant. I've killed a few mages who blinked away from me after my initial attack and they died to >200 pt hits from the gun while I was frost nova'd.
