Skinning the Beast in URBS

Hey, so last night we were in UBRS killing the beast and finkel's skinner dropped, since i'm a warrior and not even a skinner i didnt roll and there were like 2 or 3 rogues that wanted it and rolled, anyway some idiot paladin said he had 300 skinning and rolled a 100 on it, despite the fact that he couldn't use it. He says "i thought it was a knife" and both the rogues and other people in the party get really pissed off at him for being such an idiot. Sucks cuase my friend would have won the roll, anyway,

My question:

1) Can someone with 300 skinning when equipting finkel's skinner be able to skin the beast? That means that they have 310 skinning, does the beast require 315 to skin? What level does he require?

2) When you skin the beast mages are able to get their epic from it right? Some purple helm or something. How does that work?

You need 310, so you are required to equipt the dagger in order to get the +10 skinning. The dagger is fairly common if you farm the zone all day in hopes of getting the skin. I've seen the dagger atleast 10 times, and the skin once out of maybe 30-40 runs beast/general runs.

But the skin is for the leather breastplate/cloth helm quest; it is just a piece necessery for the mage helm quest... considered one of the hardest pieces to get but you still have to get things like: 300 gold for the quest alone, 8 Arcane Crystals (40 gold buyout each, or 280 mining on Rich Thorium MInes), etc, etc.

If it drops, I would let everyone roll on it that needs it.. a lot of skinners think they are in endeavored to the skin just because they can skin it, if they ever say that just let them know they can't kill the beast alone.

One question to calrify it:

the skin is a random drop from the beast like carapace from gyth ?

or

the skin is a random hide from the beast after skinning it?

Answer: it's a random skin you can get after you skin him.

You need the dagger that is an uncommon drop from The Beast, called Finkle's Skinner.

It'll give you +10 to skinning and you need 310 skinning t0 skin The Beast and then it'll be a random drop after you skin him.

So i'd say it is a bit harder to obtain then Gyth's carapace because it's farther out and you need more then just looting him. After you get the skinner you will probably get one maybe out of.. 10 runs at the earliest on average? All depends on luck though.

no. the chromatic carapace is just a rare drop from gyth. no skinning or anything like that is required

I was wondering, once I relized what you have to do for this quest, I quit herbilism and went for skinning, its 200 right now, but can a skinner skin the beast and just not loot the quest item? and someone like me loot ? or do i have to get my skinning up and loot it.

It's not a quest item, and it's not bind on pickup, so you can take it, but you can also just leave it there and let the people who need it roll for it.

i find it odd that i have not seen the dagger at all. my guild has killed the beast ~30 times at least and we have never seen the dagger drop. a bit frustrating ; /
