View Full Version : 99% Photek v4 Unitframes Look

I really like the way photek looks but I absolutely hate all Discord mods because of the slowness and large memory usage. So I decided I wanted photek looks in nurfed and I made it :p
I haven't tested it much and it's still to be concidered a work in progress but here I present my layout:
Player:

All credits go to the original authors (http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-4558-1-photekui-v30.html). I copied everything from them, which needed quite some changes in the original nurfed lua code so you really need to overwrite everything in the zip.
To do list:
[done] Combopoints
[done] Pet
[done] Partypets
[done] Targets target and targets targets target
[done] Make the color of lvls in partyframes dependent on your level
add pvp text over portrait in partyframes
Make the damage Feedback like Photek (damage recieved etc.)
add XP/Rep bars
add XP bar to pet
change hp/mp colors in pet frame to match photek
countdown on your buffs/debuffs
Make partyleader available for target (I thought it was possible, not sure)
Clean up the lua code (I made quite some dirty hacks and I suck at lua coding :o)
Bugs:
The model frame of each partymember is clicktrough and the name-background on yourself and your target isn't clickable (nothing happens), they should target the unit. Help on this is appreciated

I think I'm doing something wrong though.. with these, and 2 other layouts I've used with the Guild name on the player frame never shows up unless I do a /rl?
It sometimes appears after zoning, but not always.

This has to do with the way that blizzard loads certain items at startup and not others. Not really anything we can do about it on our end, though I've yet to have it not appear after zoning once.

Oh wow, that's really nice looking. I'm a huyge fan of the original nurfed Unit Frames as is, but will consider testing these ones out.

why i can't see the damage Feedback in the target frame?As far as I know even the default nurfed ui doesn't support this. I still have to work on the damage feedback and would like to put that in eventually

i do seem to be getting one problem though....my combat log keeps disappearing. and it returns when i restart wow and its over behidn the general tab again. any ideas as to the cause?

Can't imagine it having anything to do with nurfed UI, could try to delete Chat-Cache.txt from C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ or maybe they have something on the official wow site (http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowgm/?id=agm02000p) (I've had some similar chat problems before and eventually just ended up deleting my WTF and WTB folders and reconfigured all my addons)
i was afraid of the delete method, thanks, ill tinker with it :)

the other thing that my rogue friend requested was a red number representing the combo points on a target. he said a good spot would be right next to where the pvp rank icon is on the target. i'll gladly add this in to this, just not sure how exactly. oh and a txt or number indicating group number whe youre in a raid
the only other thing that is minor, but somewhat bothersome is how the reaction to the level of the target is off, for instance, a mob 3 levels above me appears green, instead of orange/red

yep, just open your layout.lua file in your unit frames folder, scroll down to where it says party pet, then put a "--" in front of it all

New Unit Frames in place. Thanks to Crash for great unitframes to work from, made my job easier.

Some things I'd like to see:
- An indicator to show whether you're in combat or not, like the crossed swords the original unitframes had (should fit right under the PvP rank icon I think? :))
- 3D Models of partymembers either removed or improved, they're rather buggy (e.g. you got 2 partymembers, one right next to you, the other somewhere where you won't get the portrait - the one next to you leaves, the other one gets his portrait)
- Player/Target/Party-Names colored in a specific color

for the last two of yours hannes, i have done both. as for the combat notifier, i'm not sure, i know the event is in the code already, but not sure how to get it working

Yeah, I've done that with the models myself, was merely 'for the record' :)
And thanks for the other code, guess I'll have to work myself a bit into lua coding to be able to do such myself. =) Thanks again!
And, jup, there's an "UpdateStatus" in lib.lua which seems to be pretty much everything one may need to add a combat/resting icon, it's not used in Rouge's current layout.lua, maybe I can hack it in myself, heh ;)

Ok I just uploaded a new version with some very small fixes. I haven't tested it much because I haven't been able to log on onto my main character all day (Maintenance ftw :/), but I trust everything will be ok.
Some things I'd like to see:

I keep these in because I'd like to improve them in the future. I know they're buggy, but it's much easier to remove them than to add them in. Some people might still like (even bugged :p) portraits so untill someone convinces me otherwise I won't change it :>

That should do it. I might come with some altered color/feature versions in the future but for now you will have to dig into the code yourself to get the colored class and petnames. Until that happens I will try to improve the lua code to make it as easy as possible to alter some features by just (un)commenting particular lines.

also, a when targetting a aprty member, it would be lovely to have their name highlighted so you know youve the right person

Hide = true,
in the Feedback part would work
When a mob or player has more than 2 debuffs on it, it covers up the combo points so that they can't be seen. They should maybe be relocated somewhere else.Download the latest version, I put them inside the player frame now.

Like where it says "PvP Orc Warrior GuildName". "Warrior" is in White. Is there anyway to change the color to match the class color.

YES plz, pet frames are sooo annoying. But the UI is good, just got it and LOVE it.

I have absolutely no idea how that's possible, maybe you have a german/french client with absurdly long names? If a name doesn't fit in the frame it usually shortens it by putting '...' at the end, but you should still see most of the name. A Screenshot would be nice.

I have absolutely no idea how that's possible, maybe you have a german/french client with absurdly long names? If a name doesn't fit in the frame it usually shortens it by putting '...' at the end, but you should still see most of the name. A Screenshot would be nice.

what happens if you drag a partymember somewhere to the middle or delete the following from the layout.lua?
size = { 140, 15 },
from the details part inside the 'party = {' stuff. Or what if you increase these values?

Moving them did nothing and neither did changing the sizes. Deleting that line however fixed it and now everything is working fine. Thanks!

what must i change to display the tot and the tott at the top of the targetframe?

what must i change to display the tot and the tott at the top of the targetframe?
in layout.lua change the following
target = {

However, the debuffs of your target come on top of the frame too so if you want those to get on the right of your target change the following (some lines under the last changes):
debuff1 = { template = "Nurfed_Unit_aura", properties = { Anchor = { "BOTTOMLEFT", "$parent", "TOPLEFT", 4, 4 } } },
into
debuff1 = { template = "Nurfed_Unit_aura", properties = { Anchor = { "TOPLEFT", "$parent", "TOPLEFT", 4, 4 } } },

I'm getting this error:

which results - my Nurfed action bars can't load and no unit frames appear... Any help will be appreciated.

hey man, i love ur work, same as some of the other people (weird) i also like photek/discord unit frames but hate the rest, and also a long fang of nurfed.
im sorta a coding noobie but id like to give u some feed back, i dont understand fully what previous posters said but can you please provide options to change the position of debuffs on your targets as well as buffs etc, also, options to remove buffs on player frame? coz the default blizz buff with the durations are more useful coz its hard to keep track of paladin buffs when u cant tell the duration. how do u make the feedback in the center of the portrait? and i suggest that when party members are out of LOS or range that makes their 3d portrait blank, u could use the default blizz class and race portrait instead?
sorry if its too much but i love ur work and hope for more improvements (it is quite buggy :P)

Yeah, I've done that with the models myself, was merely 'for the record' :)
And thanks for the other code, guess I'll have to work myself a bit into lua coding to be able to do such myself. =) Thanks again!
And, jup, there's an "UpdateStatus" in lib.lua which seems to be pretty much everything one may need to add a combat/resting icon, it's not used in Rouge's current layout.lua, maybe I can hack it in myself, heh ;)

This unitframe ROCKS! Thanks Rouge! I'd like the combat notifier displayed as above...how do I accomplish that? Sometimes I see "1", or "2" or "3" displayed to the left of my rank but I have no idea what it means.

however i have a noob question. how do i unlock the frames? atm when im in a party all the party members are in the middle of the screen.

hey rouge, what has to be done for the new Nurfed version? i'm assuming pasting over the lua's won't be too smooth hehe

Will this work with the new nurfed?No idea because I actually began to use some other unitframes myself, but I will see what I can do.
As for the other features I will maybe try to make some different versions to fit everyones needs :)
I hope you can update this for the new nurfed. I dont plan on using nurfed without this layout. ^^
