Re-Rolling Hunter... Levelling Pet?

I've sold my told toon, and some friends quit EQ2 and are rolling toons on a new server. I've decided to play as a Hunter (looks like a fun class), and I've heard the best levelling spec is Beast Mastery, but what best is the best for levelling? Should I look for a tank pet, or a pet that is well rounded so he can go and do most of the work while clearing a zone quickly. Any suggestions? I've never played a hunter before, so I have no idea what to look for in a pet.

Get a cat, fast dps, and good for pvp, and great for leveling. People say turtles / bears for tanking, but they are so slow, and cats will just as easily wtfpwn anything, so get a cat if you can. They are the best for leveling. Also do beast mastery, and get improved revive, will make pet revive 3 seconds long so if it dies fast respawn.

Cat or Boars are the best imo. If you have a mage friend boars are great because they eat bread.

Owl/Vulture/Bat. Screech generates a ton of threat + reduces damage taken.
