Rogues, useless?

Ok, here's the deal.
I quit playing some months ago, but i've decided to reactivate my account.
I have a 60 hunter that used to be my main, and two alts. A rogue and a warrior, both in blue gear. None of them has a guild.

I've decided to start playing with either the warrior or the rogue again.

So i'm just wondering, is there any reasons at all to play a rogue when comparing to a warrior except that it's harder to find a guild?

Forget playing a Rogue until expansion. Right now Rogues are useless since a Warrior can do everything they can do, but much better...oh and they don't die in two or three hits.

Since all classes will be receiving an overhaul in xpac, Rogues might be viable once again and actually be wanted. Until then play a Warrior.

except that warriors in offgear dont have 10k armor and like 8k + hp like a full defequipped warrior .. Evasion > Razuvious and Vanish also

If you get aggro on razuvious you're probably dead soon anyway. I'd imagine warriors are much easier to find a guild for, not to mention you'll do real well in pvp with even somewhat decent gear.

Maybe in PvE, but rogues have a lot of things that warriors don't in pvp.

I recorded a few of them. I'll see if I can find some of the old ones. Still, the ones I recorded were set up 5 on 5s which isn't really similar to world pvp (or BGs for that matter). In set up 5v5s you have a chance to mirror the other groups 5 or set up a strat beforehand. Also the old videos I did feature warriors with weapons not even remotely close to what is available now.

I don't mean to scare anyone away from the class. There's not many other classes I would play. They are great for solo play, but you will find that there won't be many welcoming PvP groups unless you're in a guild or exceptionally skilled. It is possible to maintain a certain degree of survivability with a Rogue but most of that comes down to staying out of sight until the enemy group picks a target and you end up getting lost in the confusion. That doesn't hold true for well organized groups though. I don't blame people for not grouping Rogues. Just about every other class has something better to offer overall in group PvP.

Well, the thing is, my rogue is alliance and my warrior is horde. And I just got in touch with a couple of old friends that still play and does Naxx etc. And they offered me an invite to their guild.

But they're alliance. So I want to see if there is some potential for the class after all.

Well thankfully Rogues are needed more now for PvE than they ever were, so you won't have a problem getting into raids if your friends you speak of get you in that guild.

I haven't as a rogue. I honestly think a lot of rogues pigeon hole themselves into a dps role and basically ignore their other abilities. However I'm unwilling to level a 60 rogue to test and prove my theory so I guess I have no choice but to concede to your opinion :\

You're right. Many Rogues that don't know how to tap the full potential of the class don't use all of their abilities. Even when using all of your CC abilities it can be rough in group PvP though. It's still one of the most fun classes to play.

you have tried healing a fury-warrior with deathwish? a rogue is a fucking dreadnaught wearing tauren with flask compared to that.
also furywarrs have no aggroreduction cept stance and well, rogues do.

Fury sucks anyways, sure its nice damage and you can be on top 5 damage meters but who cares?

As far as fury warriors in PvE, I only pull, if ever at all, during maybe Noth. If you're not retarded and don't spam heroics and shit, you can pull top 3 DPS easy and never rip aggro.

But yea, fury warriors blow in pvp, nice heals.

And the armor decrease is 4% mit or something like that (depending on how much armor you have to begin with, but if they're using deathwish in the first place, I'd assume low with dps gear). You could basically consider deathwish to have practically no downside.

well, imho rogues are not useless at all, but in group pvp they are NOT made to charge into large groups or even small groups of players.
i mean after loads of hours of pvp i know after all, rogue die. and they die really quickly. so what you need to do is wait next to your priest, druide or paladin, wait for others to charge in your group. u need to be on of the last ones to enter the battle otherwise u are dead in seconds.
hence the only way survive is to wait for your prey :)
i mean there is no point in stealthing in a group of players kill one and die.
to tap your full potential you need to "defend" your healers and cc as many attackers as you can. actually this is imho the only effective way to play a rogue in group pvp at the momment.

well and there is pve, too. we are more and more accepted as proper dmg dealer, and in my guild rogues are allways on the first few ranks on dmg meters(alliance). this is reason enough to keep us in raids, but we have other favors like cc and stealth.

well at the end of the day, rogues rock and are great fun to play.
