Hello guys,
I'm trying to figure out a mage role in group PvP, as I see two different stances can be taken, AOE or "focus fire".
The Focus Fire Mage would be more or less a 31/20 Arc/Fire build, built as allready known around damage. In a group, chose your victim and blast away with Arcane Power, PoM Pyroblast and you know the deal. This would mean some ugly single enemy DPS. However, it will also burn right through a mages mana so after chosen victim is dead it will be more or less time to do some evocation or drinking.
Problem with this is that in a group, Hunters can more or less do this as effectively without the downtime.
The AOE mage is as I see it a Frost build, putting 33pts in Frost. Now Blizzard will really payoff as both a humongus area, pretty decent damage and a chilling effect, even a 15% chance to freeze the targetS. Afterwards they still can deal damage to frozen targets.
I'm starting suspecting that a AOE mage is better in PvP. Problem is that if I play a mage I rather be a Arc/Fire build. Not really using any AOE in PvP, except ImpAE when chances come but..
Do you see what I mean? Now, discuss the mages roll in group PvP and also if a Arc/Fire is a succesfull build in group PvP.
/thanks
