View Full Version : The Edgemaster's Handguards effect in PvE.

Hey fellas. It was recently brought to my attention, how "crazy" can edgemasters be for PvE dps, compared to flameguards. To clear things out, let's not compare edgematers to annihilation gloves. Just to Flameguards and which is better for pve.

I am using a full r12-13 set for pvp, and decided to swap to Hoer-chromatics-flameguards for pve. (will give an increase of 1.1% crit and a 2.4% dodge, compared to losing 300hp and 10ap).
Now I am using MS crit spec but planning to swap to fury soon, so I read that edgemasters outperform flameguards by far.

To save me a 15agi gone wrong on Flameguards, could you suggest if the Edgemasters are better for pve due to the glancing blows, and in what amount? (will be using 2x r14swords with dual crusader).

There's loads of calculations on this(which I cba to quote), and on level 63+ mobs Edgemaster's outperform flameguard by a far margin, if both of your weapons are affected by the bonus.

use edgemaster's only on boss fights where it makes the biggest difference, otherwise use flameguard

Weapon skills are there to reduce the damage penalty you get on glancing blows, they don't do anything about the frequency for glancing blows.
You need 10 weapon skill to effectively reduce your glancing blow penalty on a level 63 mob to 0%.
For anything lower than level 63, you don't need more than 5 weapon skill to reduce your glancing blows to 0% mitigation. Thats why edgemasters are better for bosses, and worse for just about everything else.
