View Full Version : Onyxia, Drakefire amulet
Wondering if anyone had an insight into this...
I was looking to work on getting my key to Onyxia, so i looked it up on thott, beta information shows it was a quest reward that started with Rexxar in Desolace:
http://www.thottbot.com/beta.cgi?i=Drakefire%20Amulet
I went to talk to the guy and he had no quests...
It also shows its a vendor item from some guy named Elogit, as I was not apart of closed beta at this point I'm still wondering how they are obtained. Does anyone have any insight?

elogit (= tigole), temporary vendor in beta that gave the amulet free so we could test onyxia because the quest wasn't in place then.

It's part of a quest line, it's after you kill rend it chains into several more quests you have to do in order to get the key, we have a few people very close to getting it.

Where does this line start?

While I understand the desire to be "uber" and excel above others, it seems kind of unproductive to show an unwillingness to assist your allies. While Nurfed is almost always going to stand out as a top guild, having allies in good gear is important as well, I understand your desire to be the first to take down Onyxia. However it seems to me given the structure of instances and the fact that each group has thier own mobs, and no worries about others camping them, to keep such helpful information from allies seems to lack any reasoning. So be it, I will figure it out, or it will be public very soon, it's disapointing to know that Nurfed cares more about distancing themselves from thier allies than aiding them.

Dude, he just told you. Kill Rend, it chains from there. Reading is good.

If its a drop from rend, or a quest that magically appears after rend's death then clearly you are correct, however I would assume that it is a quest to kill Rend, much like the one Thrall gives... which is likely the case, given the current quest I have from Thrall is to save the princess I can assume, it could possibly chain off of this, but confirmation would be nice. Reading is useless without comprehension my friend.

I never did the key quest in beta (saving for retail, hah.) However the quest to kill Rend comes after you do the LBRS kill quest from the warlord in kargath.

The quest to kill Rend chains off the Warlord's Command quest from the Kargath outpost.

it starts at thrall. you get it after you turn in rend's head quest.
basically you get an item that disguises you as a wyrmkin, and you use it to get a quest from emberstrife. then, you repeat the same cookie cutter quest 3 more times, and finish up by killing general drak again. all quite boring and easy. a group of us did it in a night during beta just to see if there were any other rewards besides the amulet , and there aren't.
from what i heard, the alliance version was a lot cooler (fighting wyrmkin in stormwind)

yes. you can't zone into onyxia's lair without the amulet.

I was always curious about the Horde Onyxia pre-requisistes.. it sounds fun :)
The Alliance Quest line starts of kinda boringish but ends up in a great raid event..
First complete Dragonkin Menace in Steppes, do some FedEx's between RR and Steppes, Speak with Ragged John who gives you insight on IronFoe and a prisoner Marshal Windsor held inside BRD. After speaking with Windsor you must wait on a Note/Clue to drop, turn that in. Kill General and Golem Master in BRD, Escort an angry and naked windsor out of BRD.
Once this is completed, Windsor demands that you meet him in front of Stormwind, as he has some news that will shock the King. This event, I won't spoil, but it is one of the greatest events to date on Alliance. After this battle, you are sent to Winterspring and then off to Drakkesoth.
The problem that comes with the Onyxia Raid is that all those attending the raid must acquire the key, I believe we're on the last leg of the 40 on alliance side to acquire the Ammulet. The guilds are now working together to raid the high level dungeons, Rytrearc has acquired all materials for his Epic BP quest, and has all gear ready for tanking the great dragon. We know it won't be done in 1 day, but we're on our way!
Hope nurfed is in there soon as well.. and Good luck with Onyxia :)
and please, yes.. I agree with Kylie - don't post that you got her down to 75% :p

Seems that conquest has brought Onyxia down to third stage (<25%).

Has nurfed already tried or even killed her?

Conquest is an uber PvE guild, raiding on a PvE server. Regardless of whether or not they take Onyxia down first, it will be far more impressive when accomplished on a PvP server!

I've been in the IronForge physicians office due to Post Traumatic Stress Syndrom from all that Sintor Abuse while I was growing up :(

I don't see how it's more of an accomplishment on a PvP server. Players can level just as fast as PvP, and all the places you gear up are instanced, where you can't be bothered. The fight itself with Onyxia is instanced, and no one can interfere.
Now if there was an outdoor non-instanced raid mob, then yes I'd say that'd be more of an accomplishment to take down on a pvp server, since there'd be people trying to fuck with your raid.
All the pvp vs pve elitism is stupid.

So the time I spent fighting off alliance to get some quests done yesterday on my PvP server couldn't have been used for leveling more on a PvE server if I played on one of those instead? While I think Envie is overstating the difference as an excuse for being behind another guild, to say that it's not a decent bit easier to level on a PvE server is kind of silly. There are some gaps where you're not going to get very good exp out of instances.

well, more than the PvE/PvP issue, was CQ's server down for a good portion of the first week?
i only know about archimonde, and this server has already had a several day maintanance and lots of other downtime from the first we
but it doesnt matter as much now, raiding will begin soon enough
Where would be the best spot in BRD to farm "crumbed up note"?

lol, give me a fucking break. two days of downtime, especially on first release week doesn't mean shit as far as game progress goes. now you're just flat out making excuses.

you spend longer gearing your guild up for onyxia than you do levelling from 1 to 60. the "danger" of levelling on a pvp server is a moot point.

Who really cares, I mean I would hope that FoH or conquest or some other eq raid guild would get her first, I mean thats their sole purpose and fun of existance. I dont expect 5 FoH beating 5 Nurfed anytime soon either.
